A man's body clock - psychology today article... Mark Teich - (edited by me)

Women have unfairly borne the brunt of the blame for birth defects.

There is irrefutable evidence, that male fertility decreases decade by decade. especially after 35, aging sperm can be significant and sometimes the only cause of health and serious developmental problems in offspring, such as autism, schizophrenia, Down Syndrome and cancer. - also causing miscarriages. Older the father, higher the genetic risk.

Men produce millions of sperm every time they ejaculate, after each ejaculation, they literally replicate those cells and each replication multiplies the chance for a DNA "copy error" - a genetic chink in the sperm DNA.

Sperm DNAcan be damaged by even low levels of free radicals and still can fertilize. Whereas High levels lead to infertility, miscarriages & spontaneous abortions. Sperm are incapable of repairing itself.

  • Teens 13/14 - sperm not fully formed, risk of infertility and birth defects. Sperm maybe extremely healthy in older teens, but teen behaviour may put sperm at risk.
  • Men in there 20s are the prime years for male reproduction, the least period of risk.
  • 30s start to decline, 32-34 fertility begins to fall, a significant increase in sperm damage.
  • 40s type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular risks. Schizophrenia.
  • 50s low levels of quality in sperm, increasing in mutations and birth defects.
  • 60s...old man sheesh even look at that fckin viagra mate!
Testosterone is the key. it declines at 30, BUT there are other varying factors such as weight to heart heath. "Fat cells in a potbelly overheat the testes and break testosterone down, clogged arteries break it down.

So what to do?

  • Heart check ups - cholesterol check.
  • stay active for you 30+, health is the key for higher testosterone.
  • watch your weight. it decreases the testosterone in your sperm if you aint fit.
  • take anti oxidants, vitamin C, E they help battle free radicals.
  • drinking and smoking to excess.
  • hot baths, hot tubs, hot water generally!
  • laptops not on your laps!
  • see a urologist 0 testing of sperm content and testosterone levels.
  • Varicoceles removed by the urologist, it is engorged veins in the scrotums, it traps the blood flow in the scrotum, cooking and choking the sperm. easily reversible.

a woman's intuition...squashed! - psychology today October 2007.

Women dont have an intuitive advantage when it comes to reading someone or their thoughts over men, an old canard, an old orld gender stereotype...its not linked to an ability gap rather a motivational gap. Men can read as well as a woman can do, the trouble is men dont always want to.

key: answer? the narcissistic female!

Newlyweds can become empathically accurate, being too confident and arrogant that they lose motivation to reading each other after a year. Assuming you know what someones elses thinking kills accuracy.

Professional listeners, such as psychotherapists are no more accurate than laypeople based on facial expressions, not with shared experiences though, such as motherhood, alcoholism, parental divorce, etc.

chronic self deception - abused women - psychology today

"women can be highly motivated to stay in relationships, and that often means overlooking noxious male behaviour, if it jeopardizes children, finances and status, self deception makes sense for a woman who needs male resources, even if the guy isnt optimally committed.

women display more self serving beliefs about their own behaviour in relationships. for some women, skepticism switches off during courtship after commitment has been made, and they may overestimate a man's investment in the relationship.

battered women, who remain convinced of an abusive partners devotion are arguably lying to themselves with an intensity that can appear delusional. - these women are acting on a runaway impulse to ignore objectionable male behaviour, an impulse that prevents them from leaving when they clearly they have the advantage. this behaviour is why women are quick to blame the "other woman", its economically and emotionally easier to think that another woman is a slut than your boyfriend/husband is a slimeball.

Testosterone & Estrogen - Home Court Advantage - by Sherry Baker (edited by me) - Psychology Today

Referring to Sports. - The Home Team Advantage.

Study by Pyschologists Cameron Muir & Justin Carre of Brock University in Ontario.

Prior to a game, testosterone levels are ahead of time, suggesting the hormone to "defend ones territory" just as a dog would defend its yard, players are encouraged to defend home court.

Testosterone levels also increased, due to the status after a win on home turf & but levels fall when players are away.

So hormones are directly related to personality, mood and aggression all contributing to human ability and behaviours - not just in sports either. Language, cognition, libido and health all fluctuate as hormone levels change.

Testosterone stirs aggression in status-hungry men, but minor in laid-back personalities.

Estrogen in women is been known to help keep sharp memories, women who take estrogen supplements, long after menopause, result in memory problems.

key: natural low levels of testosterone could explain his shrinking-violet personality and his failure to rise to the challenge when his status demanded it most...high testosterone (being hated or the pressure) causes the extreme or the motivation...

Men motivated by the quest of status, have a higher baseline of testosterone, the more they feel threatened, the more aggressive they can be.

After a game loss, Personalities - less-competitive players usually have modest levels who dont care about dominance, drop in testosterone levels - going into a sympathetic state.

Whereas high level players - who have a competitive mindset, the levels soar - almost surging and in a state of aggression, this also relates for mates.

key: alphas do everything to put down the underdog, when there is one goal they both want to get to...

the higher T, when stripped of status, become angrier, excited and cognitively impaired, the low level T, become angry and impaired when placed in a high status position they simply do not want.

"testosterone levels in the womb play a crucial part in spatial tasks."

Interesting fact or fact?

"2D4D digit ratio is - a ring finger longer than the index finger is linked to high exposure to prenatal testosterone. Women dont receive as much exposure, ring and index fingers are often equal.
